A teacher's path to the school board

I was raised in California's Central Valley, and I am a Black and Mexican teacher whose life was shaped by the opportunities I found through academics and athletics. Those experiences taught me the power of strong schools, supportive adults, and communities that invest in young people.

I have been a special education teacher since 2014, when I joined Teach for America. I currently teach in Union School District and have dedicated my career to helping students and families navigate school systems, access support, and reach their full potential.

I earned bachelor's degrees in economics and political science from California State University, Stanislaus. I later completed an education specialist credential and a master's degree in special education from Loyola Marymount University. My academic and professional background gives me both a practical and policy-centered understanding of what students and educators need to succeed.
